Novel Collection news – September 2012

September is marking for us the beginning of the last and most important quarter of the year. Last week we had our last large trade show of the year in Hong-Kong and we are beginning to prepare ourselves to the holiday’s season.

Over all the diamonds market is showing odd signs, the year wasn’t that great for the industry, due to many economical uncertainties and unknown diamonds future prices, a fact that caused many jewelry store owners shop carefully. On the other hand there was much movement related to investment buying. Investment shoppers are looking for pricy diamonds, especially large white and unique fancy color diamond in all sizes.

We are seeing much interest from investment groups that are looking to diversify their customer’s portfolio due to the way the markets behave these days. Another factor that created interest was the CNBC series: Diamond Rush that discussed among different topics regarding investing in diamonds.

Specifically for us the last few months looked better than the beginning of the year. HK fair created good sales and showed good interest for colored diamonds. We have seen much demand for pink, blue and green diamonds. Moreover we have seen demands for high intensity (intense and vivid) yellow diamonds in large sizes: 5-15 carats had much demand.

Last and very important to mention is that Rio-Tinto, owners of the Argyle mine started their 2012 tender during the Hong-Kong show. Novel Collection had the opportunity to attend the Argyle tender and bid on stones. The annual invitation-only tender is hosting viewings in Perth, Hong Kong, and London and bids will close on October 15, 2012.
