September 2012 Diamonds auction results

September 20, 2012 was a significant day for Sotheby’s New York as it kicked off the fall auction season with its Important Jewels sale. Overall, the auction ended with an estimated 14 million in sales, Fancy Colored Diamonds playing no small part.  

 

Some Fancy color diamonds auction highlights include:

The star of the show however was a 5.08-carat round fancy Pink diamond with an estimated price of $700,000 which exceded all expectation by selling for $1,426,500.

 

A pear shaped 3.09-carat gold and Fancy Intense Orangey Pink diamond pendant. Estimated at 350,000 – 450,000 this gorgeous piece sold for $770,500.

 

A modified Brilliant Cut Fancy Yellow diamond weighing 13.72-carat, Set in 18 Karat gold and shouldered with light yellow trapeze cut diamonds sold for $182,000.

 

An amazing 1.15 Fancy Greyish-Blue diamond ring in a  platinum setting with four near colorless baguettes…sale price $134,500.

 

Fancy Yellow Diamond Ring Centered by a cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut fancy yellow diamond weighing 10.26 carats, flanked by two triangular-cut diamond was sold for $158,000.

Fancy Color Diamond Ring Centered by one round brilliant-cut diamond of fancy deep brown-orange color weighing 3.05 carats, framed by numerous near colorless round diamonds was sold for $46,875.

After sale comments by Sotheby’s reveal great news for those with interest in diamond investing, reporting good bidding on stones below 10-carats in addition to top prices coming from American trade buyers.
